Robert G. Gaug

June 7, 1939 - February 1, 2021



Robert G. Gaug, 81, of Yardville, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2021 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton.


Born in Trenton, NJ, Bob lived in the Trenton and Yardville area most of his life. He attended Trenton Catholic boys High School and St. Francis Seminary, Staten Island, NY. He retired from Circle F Industries after 35 years of service, He held numerous positions in the company. He also retired from the County of Hunterdon, Buildings and Grounds Dept. after 10 ½ years of service.


Bob enjoyed having lunch with his Circle F buddies and his childhood friends from grammar school (from the burg) and Trenton Catholic Boys H.S. In the many years following, there was a constant attempt to keep memories alive with picnics, dinner parties and monthly lunches with the guys. Once a year the guys and girls would lunch together.


Some of Bob’s hobbies included cooking (without a recipe), baking, making jams, drying herbs and herbed vinegars. He was an ardent gardener, growing many plants from seeds, starting them in the house. Along with his beloved wife, Pat, they skied for 35 years. They both enjoyed traveling, especially on cruises to the Caribbean, Europe, Alaska, Mexico, and bus trips touring Western states.Bob was a voracious reader, mostly mysteries. After retiring, Bob spent time on his genealogy of the Gaug family. How his ancestors moved from Black Forest in Germany to Romania in 1720. His gr.gr. gr. gr. gr. grandfather Simon Gaug was one of the founders of the city where they all came from until WWII.


Predeceased by his immigrant parents, Josef and Elizabeth (Dicke) Gaug; siblings, Joseph, Mary, Anna, Andrew, Elizabeth; and his first wife, Joan (Smolen) Perez, he is survived by his wife of 48 years, Patricia A, (Kaniewski) Gaug. She was the love of his life and his best friend. Also surviving, his sister, Catherine Heil of Hamilton; daughters, Denise Gaug and daughter-in-law Elsie Daringer of Cathedral City, CA; Lynn Carter and William Barkholz of Leesburg FL; grandson Eric Carter of Hamilton; sister-in-law, Linda Albright of Yardley, PA; stepdaughter Susan and husband Keith Perreault of Ann Arbor, MI, and many nieces, grand nieces, nephews and grand nephews.


Visiting hours for family and friends will be held on Friday, February 5, 2021 from

11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at the Buklad-Merlino Yardville Memorial Home, 30 Yardville-Allentown Road, Yardville. A prayer service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Hamilton.
