William A Lewallen

January 28, 2019

William A Lewallen, 95, passed way peacefully on January 28, 2019 in his North Carolina home with his devoted daughter Janet by his side. Bill grew up in Hamilton’s Lalor tract, the White City Lake area, and then moved to spend the rest of his life in the Bordentown Tree Streets area, until moving to the beach with his daughter and son in law in Emerald Isle NC.

Bill proudly served in the United States Army Aircorp, during WWII and was stationed in Pacific Theater as an engineer and waist gunner on a B24 bomber. Bill made 41 enemy missions in the South Pacific and was highly decorated and honored with 5 Bronze stars. His B24 crew friendships endured through the years including a reunion in 1998.

After discharge from the Aircorp he married Rose (Amato) and started a family in Bordentown.

He was a dedicated employer with the former Paneylte Company as a tool and dye maker for 46 years, and eventually retiring with Thiokol-Friction Division Products in Trenton.

Bill’s biggest treasure was his family. He enjoyed fishing, cars, handyman projects and being outdoors. His love for gardening passed on to his daughter, eventually opening Hidden View Nursery in Bordentown years later. He always looked forward to ice skating and sledding at his boyhood White City Lake each winter with all of his nieces and nephews. Uncle Bill was the favorite uncle!

Predeceased by this wife Rose (Amato) after 55 years of marriage.

Also predeceased by his sister Dorothy Piotrowski.

He is survived by his devoted daughter and son in law, Janet and Frank Eppolite III.

His loving grandchildren Kristin Albinson and her husband Stephen of Cookstown, Justin Valpreda of Hamilton, Lisa Eppolite of Mt Laurel, and Vincent Eppolite and his wife Lorene of Hubert NC.

Bill is also survived by six wonderful great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Bill’s family would like to thank all his caregivers for all of their love and concern over the last years of his life. All of their hard work allowed him to stay home with his daughter.
