Thomas A. Markee

September 4, 1940 - April 22, 2020

Thomas A. Markee, 79, of Toms River, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2020 at Community Medical Center in Toms River.


Born in Trenton New Jersey to John and Helen Markee, he was raised in Chambersburg, with his brother John and sister Diane. Tom married the love of his life, Nancy and together they have 3 children. Tom lived in Hamilton for the past 50 years, most recently residing in Toms River.


A Navy Veteran of the Vietnam era, Tom worked for the Railroad for several years with his grandfather, who was a conductor. He later worked at Gould’s Battery before going to work at St. Francis Medical Center where he retired after working for over 20 years. In his spare time, he liked trips to the Jersey Shore, and he enjoyed going on the Casino Pier at Seaside Heights. Most of all Tom enjoyed spending time with his family. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.


Tom is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Nancy Markee; his son Thomas E. Markee; two daughters, Suzanne Nangle and her husband Paul,


Melissa Cowman, and his daughter-in-law Tina Markee; six grandchildren Nicholas and Thomas R. Markee, Ashley, Danielle, and Bethany Nangle, and Courtney Cowman; two great grandchildren, Bentley Markee and Brody Duncan. His brother John Markee and his wife Dolores of Florida; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, John and Helen Markee and sister Diane Markee.


Due to public health regulations, private funeral services will be held on Monday, April 27, 2020 at the Buklad-Merlino Memorial Home, 2141 South Broad Street in Hamilton. Please do not send flowers. Entombment will be private in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
