Stephen A. Agocs, III, 83, of Hamilton passed away peacefully on Friday, July 3, 2026 at Capital Health Systems at Hopewell.
Born in Trenton, Stephen attended Trenton Catholic High School and graduated from Hamilton High School West. He began his career with the Trenton Police Department, where he served his community with dedication and integrity. During the 1960s, he met and married the love of his life, Ruth, and together they built a loving home and raised their family.
In 1977, Stephen transferred to the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office, where his hard work and leadership earned him the rank of Lieutenant. After many years of faithful and dedicated service in law enforcement, he retired from the Prosecutor's Office.
Never one to slow down, Stephen began a second career in the rental property business. For more than 45 years, he took great pride in providing safe, affordable housing for the many tenants who called his properties home. He was a member of St Raphael-Holy Angels Parish, and enjoyed spending time at the Broad Street Diner, where he would meet up with his friends.
In his leisure time, Stephen enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. He loved spending time with his family and found peace while fishing. One of his family's most cherished traditions was their annual three-week summer vacation in Seaside Park, creating countless memories that would be treasured for generations.
Predeceased by his parents, Stephen A. Agocs, Jr. and Catherine (Bergen) Agocs; his beloved wife, Ruthann (Tydryszewski) Agocs; and his daughters, Kathleen Flanigan and Nancy Mejia; he is survived by his daughter, Janet Agocs; two grandchildren, Sean (Karen) Flanigan, and Jordan Mejia; 2 great-grandchildren, Kora Flanigan and Evelyn Flanigan; a sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Joseph Salmestrelli; his best friend, Keith (Tina) VanHansen; as well as other relatives and dear friends.
