Russell S. LaMendola, 76, of Yardville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Serenity Hospice Inpatient Unit at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Hamilton, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in New Eagle, PA, Russell moved to the Hamilton area at a young age and remained a lifelong resident. He was a proud, honorably discharged U.S. Air Force veteran who served during the Vietnam War. Russell spent many years employed with U.S. Steel Fairless until its closing, after which he worked for the State of New Jersey at the New Jersey State Museum.
He was dedicated to helping others and especially enjoyed volunteering, including delivering mobile meals to the elderly. Known for his captivating storytelling, Russell shared a lifetime of adventures and always offered insightful, judgment-free advice. In his leisure time, he loved reading and traveling, but above all, he cherished moments spent with his family.
Predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Rose (DeLuca) LaMendola, and his grand-dogs, Holly, Lucky and Maya; he is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Betty Anne (Zola) LaMendola; his son and daughter-in-law, Nicholas and Tara LaMendola; a dear friend, Heather Ward; his beloved grandchildren, Matthew and Natalie LaMendola; his grand-cats, Escher and Jack; as well as many cherished friends.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025 from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., at the Buklad-Merlino Yardville Memorial Home, 30 Yardville-Allentown Road, Yardville, NJ.
A prayer service will begin at 2:00 p.m.
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
