Robert Irwin Tyger, age 89, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2026. Bob was a loving husband, brother, brother-in-law, father, godfather, and grandfather, as well as an uncle and cousin. He also had numerous friends he considered like family.
Mr. Tyger was born on May 25, 1937 in Brooklyn, New York. He grew up in Brooklyn until his family moved to Hamiton, New Jersey just before his teen years. A 1955 graduate of Hamilton High School West, Bob worked as a Material Controller for the bulk of his career, supervising the component parts of aerospace device assembly for RCA and its successor companies. He will be especially remembered as a loving husband and father. Bob enjoyed gardening, word puzzles, attending all family sporting events, performances, and gatherings, and never met a play on words or a pun he didn’t like. Bob mastered the “Dad joke” long before the term had even been coined.
Son of the late Joseph and Belle Tyger; and brother of the late Frank and Stan Tyger; Bob is survived by his wife of 62 years, Charlotte; his two children and their spouses, Sue and John Steinmetz, and Lori and Michael Tyger; his grandchildren, Robbie Steinmetz, Alexis Tyger, and Joseph Tyger; and his sisters-in-law, Joan Bellis and Pam Marjarum. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and their families, as well as many extended family and friends.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026 from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at the Buklad-Merlino Yardville Memorial Home, 30 Yardville-Allentown Road, Yardville, NJ.
A Remembrance service will begin at 11:30 a.m.
Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton.
