Philip (Bruce) Hobson, 78, of Hertford, NC, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 24, 2025 at home.
Born in Trenton, New Jersey, he graduated from Steinert High School, Class of 1964. He served six years in the US Army National Guard. After graduating from college, he began work at FMC, Princeton New Jersey, as a process and research chemist. He was awarded two US patents and multiple foreign versions for chemical processing innovations. He then became manager of safety, security and industrial hygiene. He left FMC and founded Certified Safety Services, Inc. in order to assist clients with safety, health and security concerns.
He later retired and moved to Albemarle Plantation in Hertford, North Carolina where he was involved in many community activities including being on the Community Emergency Response Team.
Predeceased by his parents, Connie and Arthur Hobson; his father and mother-law, John and Mary Angelucci; and his nephew, Christopher Archambault; he is survived by his wife of 55 years, Donna Angelucci Hobson; a sister, Janice Archambault and her husband, Emil; two brothers and sisters-in laws, Don and Geri Angelucci and Joe and Diane Angelucci; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
A gathering for family and friends will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Buklad-Merlino Memorial Home, 2141 South Broad Street, Hamilton, NJ, 08610.
Words of Remembrance will begin at 12:00 p.m.
Burial will be private
