The world lost a bright light when Nancy S. Markee, 81, suddenly passed away Thursday, February 19, 2026 at Community Medical Center, Toms River, NJ.
Born in Croydon, raised in Levittown, PA, Nancy moved to the Trenton area in 1963 after marrying the love of her life. They eventually moved into their almost forever home in Hamilton Twp. where they lived for over 50 years. Nancy will be remembered as a loving wife, devoted mom, spectacular mom-mom and proud great-grandmother, whose warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In the early years of her marriage, Nancy enjoyed dancing and taking trips to the Jersey Shore with her beloved husband and children. That’s why five years ago they moved to Toms River to be by the water they loved so much. For many years, she was employed with the State of New Jersey, Division of Youth and Family Services, where she met some amazing co-workers until her retirement.
Everyone that knew Nancy knew she found joy in cooking, crocheting, solving crossword puzzles and traveling. A recent love of hers was watching K-dramas every night and looked forward to it everyday. She had a special love for her dogs, who brought her great comfort and companionship. But above all else, her greatest happiness came from time spent with her family, whom she cherished deeply.
Predeceased by her parents, Leonard and Roberta (Haggerty) Lewis; her beloved husband, Thomas A. Markee; and her son, Thomas E. Markee. Nancy is survived by two daughters, Suzanne Nangle and her husband Paul, and Melissa Cowman; a daughter-in-law, Tina Markee; six grandchildren, Nicholas Markee, Ashley Nangle, Thomas Markee, Courtney Cowman, Danielle (Craig) Folley, and Bethany Nangle; five great grandchildren, Brody Duncan, Bentley Markee, Ava Markee, Mason Markee and Nash Folley; as well as many other relatives and dear friends.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on. Wednesday, February 25, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at the Buklad-Merlino Memorial Home, 2141 South Broad Street, Hamilton, NJ 08610.
A prayer service will begin at 12:00 p.m.
