Mary Vanek, 96, of Hamilton, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 10, 2026 at Complete Care at Hamilton.


Born in Trenton, she was a lifelong area resident, having made her home in Groveville since 1992. She began her career in retail at a gift shop in New Hope known as The Brunswick, before going on to manage the MJM Tavern in Hamilton for many years. She later continued her career with the Hibbert Group, where she remained until her well-earned retirement after many years of dedicated service.


When Mary wasn’t working, she found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved gardening, browsing yard sales, and spending time in the kitchen cooking and baking for those she loved. She especially cherished hosting holiday gatherings and family picnics, creating lasting memories with her family and friends. More than anything, being surrounded by her loved ones meant the world to her.


Predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Mamie (Muller) Gonzalez; brothers, Joseph Gonzalez and Henry Gonzalez; sons, John Roberts and Brian Roberts; and her 2 late husbands, John A. Roberts and Arthur Starkin; she is survived by her children, Patricia Roberts, Mark (Barbara) Roberts, Michelle Nelson, Yvonne Bless and Renee Day; her ex-husband and companion, Ken Vanek; sister, Katherine Vanderbelt; many grandchildren; great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.


Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Buklad-Merlino Yardville Memorial Home, 30 Yardville-Allentown Road, Yardville, NJ.


A prayer service will begin at 12:00 p.m.


Entombment will follow in Colonial Memorial Park, 3039 South Broad Street, Hamilton, NJ.
