Maria (Mary) J. DiDonato Johnson, 99, of Hamilton passed away on Saturday April 18, 2020 at Hamilton Continuing Care.
Born December 18, 1920 in New York City, before residing in the Chambersburg section of Trenton. Daughter of the late Luigi and Gracia (Calderon) DiDonato, Mary was predeceased by her husband, Russell P. Johnson, brothers Frank DiDonato, Henry DiDonato (Edith), Benjamin DiDonato (Madeline), and sisters Lena Cirillo Briggs (William), and Anna Pippen.
Mary is survived by her son, Nicholas P. Johnson (Jill) of Estes Park, Colorado, her daughters Barbara E. Landolfi (Pat) of Langhorne, Pennsylvania, and Susan A. Celentana (Michael) of Hamilton, New Jersey; she is also survived by her brother Vincent J. DiDonato (Grace) and sister Emily Parriski.
Mary has five grandchildren, Lori Caruso (Vincent), Catherine Nikles (Donald), Patricia Collins (Scott), Michael Celentana, Marc Celentana (Janet). Eight great grandchildren, Ashlyn and Allison Nikles, Victoria Caruso, Harrison and Jack Collins, Evan, Miami, and Jonah Celentana.
Mary was employed for many years at several different State offices until her retirement at which time she volunteered her time to many organizations. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Hamilton Continuing Care Center for all their wonderful care. Donations in Mary’s memory can be made to the Hamilton Continuing Care Center, 1059 Edinburg Road, Hamilton, New Jersey 08690-1927.
Funeral services will be private due to the coronavirus outbreak and the family wishes that all their relatives and friends stay healthy. A celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Buklad-Merlino Memorial Home, 2141 South Broad Street in Hamilton Township.
