Mary Ann Fanucci (nee D’Angeli), 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.

Mary Ann was born a lioness in her hometown of Trenton, NJ, in the Chambersburg section, via a midwife. She proudly identified as a “Burger Bit” there.  Her story begins…

Her parents, Paul and Margaret, first generation Americans, worked hard and opened Paul’s North End Bar in Pemberton, NJ.  It was the place to meet, greet, and relax, known in the 70’s as “BCC North”.  When Mary Ann lost both parents, her solo career began as one of the few women owned businesses in the area.  She met future husband Frank Fanucci there, while he was serving at Ft. Dix.  She would work 12-15 hours a day, come home and make a huge pot of her beloved chili, for next day’s lunch at the tavern.  She was way ahead of her time juggling home and career.

Her first job was with the state of NJ, on the ground floor of planning and instituting the Garden State Parkway, as a secretary.  She adored the job and often was asked opinions and to help in other ways.  She and Frank had 3 children.  She always found time to encourage, support and show love to them.

Along the many years, she discovered antique collecting and fell in love with owls, thus renaming her bar The Owl’s Nest.  All who knew her and visited her in her Pemberton home, left with smiles, stories and the occasional antique lesson. She was known for her wonderful picnics for family and friends.  Always an avid reader, her hallways were filled with books; she bestowed that same love of books on her children.

Mary Ann leaves behind her dear children Diane, Bob (Carmen), and Tina, her late brothers Paul (Nancy) and Dominic, former late husband Frank, and many cousins.

At Mary Ann’s request, there will be no viewing.

All are welcome to attend a graveside service which will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 1200 Cedar Lane, Hamilton, NJ.
