March 28, 1944 - February 28, 2026

Martha Petrena, 81, of Hamilton, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2026 at home surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in New Brunswick, NJ, she made Hamilton her home in 1985, where she would go on to build a life centered on compassion and family.
Martha devoted many years to the field of nursing, a profession that perfectly reflected her caring spirit. She worked in the Emergency Room at Helene Fuld Medical Center (now Capital Health Regional Medical Center) and at Mercer Hospital, where she tended to patients and their families with skill, calm reassurance, and heartfelt compassion. In moments of uncertainty and crisis, Martha was a steady presence — a consummate caregiver who offered comfort in every way she could.
Her nurturing nature extended far beyond her professional life. Martha adored babies and was always the first to offer to babysit for the children of dear friends and family. She happily shared her knowledge and gentle guidance, always ready with advice or a helping hand to support those she loved.
Creativity was another beautiful part of who she was. Martha especially loved decorating for Christmas, transforming her home each year into a warm and festive gathering place. She collected dolls, finding joy in their charm and detail, and took great pride in caring for her garden, where she found peace and fulfillment.
Above all, Martha flourished in the company of others. She treasured time spent with her family and friends, creating lasting memories filled with laughter, warmth, and love.
Predeceased by her parents, Louis and Pearl (Christ) Clark; her brother, Marvin Clark; and her granddaughter, Mackenzie Malaspina; she is survived by her beloved husband, Michael Petrena, Jr.; her children, Lisa Ann Cunningham, Michael Szigeti, David Anderson, Cathie Lyn Anderson and Michael Joseph Petrena; her sister, Judith Necklen; grandchildren, Frankie Cunningham, Wyatt Anderson, David Anderson and Corey J. Anderson; as well as many other relatives and dear friends.
Services are private and under the direction of the Buklad-Merlino Memorial Homes, Hamilton, NJ.
