Maria A. Spera, 87, of Yardville passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2019 in Samaritan Hospice at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mt. Holly.
Born in Villalba, Sicily, she moved to the Trenton area with her family in 1968 and resided in the area since that time. Maria enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family always making sure she provided a happy and loving home. She was a selfless person who always loved and placed family first. Maria was also a longtime member of St. Vincent DePaul Church, faithfully reciting the Rosary every day. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law, she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Daughter of the late Gaetano and Josephine Dirraimondo Spera, wife of late Giuseppe Spera, and sister of the late Giuseppe, Salvatore, and Rosa Spera, she is survived by her three children, Nino Spera and his wife Daniela, Rosa Spera and her husband Glen Gilmore with whom she resided, and Josephine Spera; seven grandchildren, Brielle, Daniela, Giuseppe, Antonino and Alessandro Spera, Ariana Spera, and Joseph Volk; many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members in America and Sicily.
A visitation will be held on Friday morning, April 12, 2019 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Buklad Yardville Memorial Chapel, 30 Yardville-Allentown Road in Yardville. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. at St. Vincent DePaul Church, 555 Yardville-Allentown Road, Yardville. Entombment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
