Louis D. Altieri, Jr.

April 4, 1945 - January 3, 2024


Louis D. Altieri, Jr., 78, of Hamilton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune, NJ.

 

Born in Trenton, he was a longtime area resident prior to moving to Tinton Falls a few years ago. Louie was a graduate of Notre Dame High School and Saint Francis College in Pennsylvania. He was an avid fan of the NY Jets, Notre Dame high school and Notre Dame university football teams, and was also an avid player and viewer of golf.  After graduation he taught High School for a period of time.


 Louie loved spending time with his family.  He also enjoyed taking walks through Mercer County Park and spending time with his devoted mother, a woman who cared for Louie for the vast majority of his life. 

 

Louie was a deeply faithful person.  He was a longtime member of Saint Gregory, Great Catholic Church. After moving from Hamilton to Hightstown, he became a passionate parishioner of Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. He was very fond and a friend of its retired pastor Father Pat. Predeceased by his father, Louis, D. Altieri, Sr., who served in World War II, and later died in the Korean War, and his mother, Jean Altieri; his aunts, Alda Johnson, and Alba Young; and his uncle Albert Delle Grotti.  He is survived by his first cousins Carol Butera and her two children, David and Melissa, their spouses and 8 grandchildren. Dennis Young, and his children Julia, Rachel, Natalie and David, their spouses and three grandchildren; Sylvia Mielke and her husband, Charles, their children, Sarah and  Matthew, their spouses and two grandchildren; and Richard Young and his wife, Melissa, their children Luke, Elizabeth and Noah; as well as many other cousins, second cousins and lifelong friends.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Gregory the Great Church, 4620 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ 08690.

 

Entombment will follow in Princeton Memorial Park Mausoleum, Robbinsville, NJ.


Arrangements are under the direction of the Buklad-Merlino Memorial Home, Hamilton.
