Lawrence David Willison III, age 88, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2026, in Hamilton, New Jersey, surrounded by his family.
Born on June 20, 1938, Dave was the son of Lawrence David Willison Jr. and Mary Elizabeth Deemer Willison. Throughout his life, he exemplified integrity, independence, and quiet strength, leaving a lasting impression on those who knew him.
Dave attended The George School before earning his bachelor’s degree from Colgate University. He went on to receive his Juris Doctor from the University of Georgia School of Law and later completed graduate legal studies in taxation at New York University. Following his service as an officer in the United States Navy, he worked in tax law and established a successful law practice in Philadelphia, where he practiced tax law for more than thirty years. He built his practice on expertise, professionalism, and the trust of his clients.
A lifelong learner with a keen interest in economics and financial markets, Dave enjoyed investing and following the markets throughout his life. He also had a passion for golf and travel. In his earlier years, he traveled extensively, circling the globe and developing an appreciation for different cultures and experiences that remained with him throughout his life.
Dave was a former member of the Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo, Florida, and a Lifetime Member of the Union League of Philadelphia.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of more than forty years, Eileen Rita Roscoe Willison. Their marriage was one of enduring love, mutual respect, and unwavering commitment.
He is survived by his sons, Lawrence David Willison IV and Brian Jon Willison, and by his grandson, Brian Jon Willison Jr., all of whom were a great source of pride and joy throughout his life.
Those who knew Dave will remember him as a thoughtful and self-reliant man whose words carried weight because he never used more than necessary. He had a dry sense of humor, an engaging wit, and, while sometimes reserved, almost always had a memorable story to share. He was a devoted husband and father who believed in allowing others the independence to lead their own lives while always being present when it mattered most. His steady guidance, intelligence, and character earned the respect of family, friends, colleagues, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Dave's legacy is one of service, integrity, intellectual curiosity, and devotion to family. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial contributions to a charity of one’s choice in Dave's memory.
Funeral and memorial service arrangements will be announced by the family. Cremation services are under the direction of the Buklad-Merlino Memorial Homes, Hamilton, NJ.
