Kelly Sunkiskis, 59, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 29, 2024 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick, NJ.
Born in Trenton, she was a lifelong area resident. Kelly graduated from Steinert High School, Class of 1983, where she played soccer and was one of the best defenders in the county. She loved coaching soccer and watching her children’s sporting activities. She was their biggest fan and was a total soccer mom. Kelly was a strong woman, and very hard worker. She was their rock and always kept the family together. Her biggest joy in life was her family, she loved them more than life itself. They knew they were loved, they could always feel it. She loved going to the beach, especially LBI, where family vacations were spent. She was previously employed at the Ewing Diner, and the Broad Street Diner.
Predeceased by her parents, Robert and Geraldine (Tracey) Kurlander; she is survived by her beloved husband of 35 years, James Sunkiskis 3 loving children, Chelsea Kurlander-Sunkiskis, Courtney Kurlander-Sunkiskis, and Christian Kurlander-Sunkiskis; her precious feline companion, Winston; 2 sisters, Kim Kurlander-Guckin, and Traci (Kevin) Cauthon; a granddaughter, Chloe Sunkiskis; sister-in-law, Lydia Ryba and husband, Jim; and brother-in-law, Frank Sunkiskis;
as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday January 8, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. with a Remembrance service beginning at 3:00 p.m. at the Buklad-Merlino Memorial Home, 2141 South Broad Street, Hamilton, NJ 08610.
Cremation will be held privately.
