Kathleen Saxton

February 29, 1952 - January 16, 2025


Kathleen Saxton, 72, of Florence, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Willingboro, surrounded by her loving family.


Born in Trenton, she was a resident of Hamilton for many years before moving to Florence 15 years ago. Kathleen was employed as a Paralegal with the State of NJ, Dept. of Law and Public Safety and retired after many years of service.  She took great pleasure in mini vacations to Cape May with her late husband Joe and relaxing on the beach.  Kathleen was a remarkable woman who was an avid reader, enjoyed writing, poetry, music, walks in the park and watching old-time movies.  Most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her beloved cat Thomas.


Predeceased by her parents, Harry A. and Mary (Lesnak) Totten; her beloved husband, Joseph Saxton; her siblings, Edward J. Totten, Richard Totten and Gloria McCrane; and  sister-in-law, Shirley Totten; she is survived by her loving daughter, Dawn Marie Cartwright-Smith; a brother, Harry C. Totten; her cherished grandchildren, Brandon and Ashley Ann Smith; a sister-in-law, Mary Totten; a niece, Shelly Danese and husband, Peter; a nephew, Edward Totten and wife, Kyle; grandnieces and grandnephews, as well as many dear friends.


A Gathering for family and friends will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Buklad-Merlino Yardville Memorial Home, 30 Yardville-Allentown Road, Yardville.


A prayer service will begin at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Stanley Krzyston, of St. Vincent DePaul Church, officiating.


Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Burlington County Animal Shelter, 35 Academy Dr, Westampton Township, NJ 08060.

I had the pleasure of meeting Kathy via my brother Don. She was such A beautiful woman with A beautiful soul. We enjoyed day at Bellmawr Beach (along w our late sister Janet) such A day I will cherish forever. She was A fun loving positive person We enjoyed dinner at the beautiful yacht club on the water. Such a delight I will cherish that day with wonderful memories in my heart.

My prayers to Kathy’s family and friends. May the Lord hold you in His arms during these difficult days.

Kathy was a wonderful and intelligent woman . She was a giver and loved her daughter Dawn and Grandchildren very deeply . They always made me feel like part their family. My God be with her soul in Heaven. Don
