May 24, 1946 - March 29, 2026

Juan Rivera, Sr., 79, of Trenton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2026 at Capital Health Systems at Hopewell, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born in Coamo, Puerto Rico in 1946, Juan’s journey brought him to Syracuse, NY in 1960, and for a brief time in Coney Island, he ultimately settled into the Trenton area, where he would make his home. It was in Trenton that he met the love of his life, Norma, and together they built a beautiful life centered around family, love, and devotion.

Juan embraced family life wholeheartedly and began his career with Waste Management in Hamilton Township, where he worked diligently for many years before retiring. He was a hardworking man with a generous spirit and a heart full of kindness—never one to sit still, always on the go, and always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His selflessness and willingness to help others were simply part of who he was.

A talented mechanic, Juan found great joy in working on cars, a skill he took pride in throughout his life. Yet, no matter what he was doing, his family always came first. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud and adoring grandfather who loved his family unconditionally and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Predeceased by his parents, Pedro Rivera and Jenara Aponte; his son, Adoniran Rios; brothers, Luis Rivera, Ramon Rivera, Jose Rivera, Rafael Rivera, and Bonefacio Rivera; and a sister, Ada Rivera; he is survived by the love of his life, his beloved wife of more than 50 years, Norma Rivera; his children, Juan Rivera, Jr. (Danielle), Alexander Rivera, Jenny Rivera, Tadeo Rios, Sr. and Tadeo Rios, Jr.; sisters, Zaida Rivera and Migdalia Rivera; many adored grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and dear friends.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the Buklad-Merlino Memorial Home, 2141 South Broad Street, Hamilton, NJ.

Cremation and burial will take place privately.
