John P. Momrock

August 26, 1928 - December 27, 2024


The cremated remains of John P. Momrock, a World War II US Army veteran and resident of Newtown, PA, were entombed with full military honors into the mausoleum at the Washington Crossing, PA National Cemetery on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.  John was a devout practicing Catholic and a devoted husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle.    

            

John, age 96, passed away peacefully at home on December 27, 2024, after a two-year struggle with a debilitating cardiac condition. He was born in Summit Hill, Carbon County, PA on August 26, 1928.

After graduation from Summit Hill High School, he entered the US Army at age 18 and served for some three years, to include tours of duty in occupied Japan.


 Returning home from military service, he took full advantage of the GI Bill attending Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in business and accounting. He worked as an accountant in various business offices and at the end of his career retired from the De Laval Steam Turbine Company in Trenton, NJ where he was employed for many years as Comptroller.


John was predeceased by his parents, Mary and John Momrock, and by one brother and two sisters. He is survived by one younger sister, by his wife of 72 years, Alice Cracker Momrock, by three daughters and sons-in-law, Alice Patel, Judith and Steven Willard and Mary Jo and Alan Garabedian. Also surviving to cherish and honor his memory are eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

 

All services were under the direction of the Buklad-Merlino Memorial Homes, Hamilton.
