John H. Applegate, 83, of Hamilton , passed away peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born in Trenton NJ, John was a lifelong area resident. He was a U. S. Navy veteran who served on the USS Gainard and the USS Johnston. He was part of the naval blockade during the Cuban Missile Crisis in October of 1962. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1963, attaining the rank of E5. John worked for Delaval as a Lathe operator and a CNC Programmer. He retired as a maintenance mechanic at Princeton Hospital. A devout Catholic, John was a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus, Hamilton Council #6213 and previously, Trenton Council #355. He was a member of the Nocturnal Adoration Society, was the President of the Holy Name and President of the St Vincent de Paul Society. He enjoyed celebrating his faith by going to San Alfonso’s Retreat House every September.
John was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Martha (Lodge) Applegate; his sisters, Catherine Jones, and Theresa Bryan; and his brother, William Applegate. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Ann Applegate; his daughter, Lisa Foxall (James); son, John M. Applegate (Julivia); son, Christopher Applegate (Dawn); daughter, Donna Bercy (Ramon); son, Michael Applegate (Lauren); his brother, Robert Applegate (Sally);
4 brothers-in-law, Timothy Bryan Sr., John Komendat, George Komendat (Barbara), and William Komendat; 17 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 1 great grandchild on the way, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, November 17, 2025 from 8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. at the Buklad-Merlino Yardville-Allentown Road, Yardville, NJ.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 555 Yardville-Allentown Road, Yardville, NJ.
Entombment will follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Hamilton, NJ
