Joan Powell, 89, of Hamilton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at Hamilton Grove in Hamilton.
Born and raised in Atlantic City, NJ, once married, she and her husband Joe raised their family in the Yardville area. She enjoyed playing the piano, and was an excellent singer, and sang on the Steel Pier in Atlantic City. In her later years, she moved to Pond Run Senior Living and was known for always giving candy out to her friends. Joan was also a member of the Sexy Seven Senior Club.
Predeceased by her mother, Erva Bender Swanson; her husband Joseph C. Powell; her siblings, Billy, Eddie, Arnold, and Erva; and her companion, Fred Feaster; she is survived by her daughters, Joanie Powell and companion Ray Mahan, and Joyce Kenney and fiancé Kirk Garey; and her son, Joseph C. Powell, Jr. and fiancé, Lynnette Plutchok; 3 grandchildren, April, Danny (Emily) and Jessica; 4 great grandchildren, Megan, Maria, Ellie and Alexander; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
A visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday,
April 27, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.at the Buklad-Merlino Memorial Home, 2141 South Broad Street, Hamilton, NJ.
Burial will follow at the Brig. General Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, North Hanover Twp., NJ.
Due to floral restrictions at the Veterans Cemetery, in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Dachshund Rescue of Bucks County & NJ, 111 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ 08833, Or to any charity of the donor’s choice.
