Jan Parks Oliver, 84 passed away peacefully Saturday, July 25, 2026 in Jupiter, FL.
Born April Jan Parks in Corpus Christi TX, she was a resident of Groveville, NJ for many years, before retiring to Florida.
In her early years she was a Majorette through the Elk Cadets. She played basketball in high school, attending Sundeen School and graduating in 1959. Her first job was helping her father at a drycleaning business. She attended Del Mar Community College in Corpus Christi. While at DelMar, she met a Naval Aviator named Bruce Barton Oliver. They wed December 15, 1960. After Bruce’s tour of service ended, their family of four settled down in Groveville NJ. Soon after, four became five. Through the years her jobs included Yardville Supply, Educational Testing Service, Principal Secretary Trenton Area Schools, working in several different schools during her tenure.
Staying in touch with her people was very important to her. Back before cell phones or rechargeable cordless ones, she would keep in touch with her friends and family in other states often via a wall phone with a long yellow cord often perched in her favorite recliner or working on something in the kitchen as she talked.
She was an avid club member, active in charity drives, fashion show fundraisers, women's clubs including The Contemporary Club in Trenton NJ as well church groups, bowling league and art classes. She helped create a VBS curriculum/program called “Kids Stuff” at the Yardville Presbyterian Church (now United Presbyterian). She, along with her husband, was a Phillies Fan.
Predeceased by her parents, Charles R “Buddy” Parks and LaDell Duncan; her sister, Sherry; brothers, Brent and Robert; and her beloved husband, Bruce Barton Oliver, who passed away one day prior.
She is survived by her children, Kim (Tom) Cole, Eric (Jeannie) Oliver, and Jason Oliver; grandchildren, Heather, Devin, Joe, Eleanor, Noah, Benjamin, Isaac, Spencer, Colin, Madelyn, and Victoria; great grandchildren, Lucas and Sophia; as well as many other relatives and dear friends.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Buklad-Merlino Yardville Memorial, 30 Yardville-Allentown Road, Yardville NJ.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the United Presbyterian Church, 12 Yardville-Hamilton Square Rd., Yardville NJ, 08620.
Interment will follow in Groveville United Methodist Cemetery, 430 Church Street, Groveville NJ.
