August 11, 1936 - January 4, 2026

Hilda S. Hernandez, 89, of Hamilton, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, January 4, 2026.
Born in Cuba on August 11, 1936, Hilda lost her mother at a young age and spent much of her childhood caring for her younger siblings. She grew into a hard-working, selfless woman who expressed her love for her family through her daily actions. In 1956, she married the love of her life, Gregorio Hernandez, who predeceased her. Together, they moved to the United States in 1972 after facing challenging political circumstances in their beloved homeland. In addition to raising their three children, Hilda worked as a seamstress and devoted herself to caring for her children and grandchildren. Hilda was the epitome of the “wind beneath the wings” of every member of her family. She stood in the shadows, caring for and sacrificing for her loved ones so that they shine in the spotlight. Though her courageous battle with cancer has ended, she leaves behind an enduring and beautiful legacy for her family.
She is survived by her three children, Leonardo Hernandez (Pamela), Mercedes Ramos (Gilberto - deceased), and Domingo Hernandez (Yusimi); seven grandchildren, Gilbert, Brandon, Elizabeth, Dylan, Katerina, Curtis, and Emily; three great grandchildren; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, and other cherished relatives.
In accordance with Hilda’s wishes, there will be no visitation prior to the Mass.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, January 12, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption, 151 North Warren Street, Trenton.
Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hamilton.
