Helen M. Metterle

September 21, 1927 - January 11, 2025

Helen M. Metterle, 97, of Ewing, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Serenity Hospice Inpatient Unit at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Hamilton, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born in Trenton, NJ she spent 40 years in Yardville before moving to Whiting for 30 years, and more recently residing in Ewing.

Helen was a woman of remarkable adaptability and strength. In her early career before starting her family, she was a dedicated switchboard operator and a valued member of Circle F Industries. Once married, she embarked on a fulfilling journey as a homemaker, where she instilled a sense of love and resilience in her family.

As life progressed, Helen returned to the workforce with impressive vigor. Her career found her working at Pharmacraft for several years, and later at Hoffman La Roche, from where she retired after many fulfilling years. Known for her initiative and resourcefulness, Helen had a unique ability to fix just about anything. She enjoyed cross stitch, quilting, and any type of sewing project.  A proud mother, grandmother, and

great-grandmother, Helen’s greatest joys came from her family and the time spent making memories with them.

Predeceased by her parents, Francis J. and Ann (Rogers); her brothers, Fran, Bill, Jim and Jack Horan; sisters-in-law, Ann, Jean, Marge and Suzanne Horan; and her beloved husband, William A. Metterle; she is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Roger Haley; her sister, Kathie Formolo and husband John; 4 grandchildren, Tommy Haley, Eamonn (Laura) Haley, Alison (Steve) Rudenstein and Caitlin (Jason) Hribar; 7 great-grandchildren, Grant, Parker, Maddie, Evelyn, John, Colleen and Lydia; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
