July 7, 1928 — April 29, 2026

Grace Ann Hawk, lovingly known as Mom, Grandma, and Aunt Grace, was born on July 7, 1928 to Roy and Rachel Austin in Jacksonville, Florida.
As the seventh child, born on the seventh day of the seventh month, her life was marked by blessings from the very beginning. She departed this life on April 29, 2026 at Capital Health in Hopewell, NJ with her family at her side.
Grace was a graduate of Old Stanton High School in Jacksonville. In her yearbook, she was affectionately called “Shameface” because she was shy, humble, and never one to seek the spotlight or attention. Mom lived a long, blessed, and beautiful life filled with love, faith, family, strength, and service.
Mom married the love of her life, the late Ulysses Hawk Sr., and they later moved to Trenton, New Jersey. From their union, they became the proud parents of 15 wonderful children, 11 girls and 4 boys.
Throughout her life, Mom was a hardworking woman and a faithful Christian. She grew up in the Baptist church and later joined the Seventh-day Adventist faith over 70 years ago. Although she did not hold many titles in the church, she served faithfully in her own way by always caring for others, looking out for those in need, and showing love through her actions. Mom was doing community service long before it was ever called community service, and she made sure her children learned the importance of helping others and following in her footsteps.
Grace was well known for her generous spirit, kindheartedness, and quiet strength. She was a pillar of love and wisdom to her family, and her life was a beautiful example of faith, compassion, and devotion. She touched many lives with her warmth, her giving heart, and the way she made others feel loved and cared for.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Rachel Austin; her loving husband of many decades, Ulysses Hawk Sr; her three children, Hope Sheree Hawk, Rachel Patterson Green, and Alonzo Hawk; her granddaughter, Raushana Johnson; siblings, Dorothy Jackson, Jeanette Jones, Barbara Love, Roy Austin Jr., Ralph Austin, Clarence Austin, Rudy Austin, Edward Austin, Andrew Austin and Chris Austin.
Her beautiful memory will continue to live on through her children, Ulysses Hawk Jr. (MacLisa), Linda Evans, Generia Harrington (Bruce), Grace Hawk, Claudia Siegel (Verlee), Rochelle Johnson, Carmen Hawk, Debra Cooper (Reggie), Cheryl Johnson (Gregory), Daniel Hawk (Serena), Troy Hawk, and April Hawk. Her memory will also live on through her siblings, Earl Austin, Bernard Austin (Brenda), Betty Jennings, and Vivian Austin.
She also leaves to cherish her memory her loving grandchildren, Donte Evans, Zandra Harrington, Oliver Harrington, Tanisha Patterson, Maurice Evans, Derick Brown ,Twana Hawk, Chinua Hawk, Shana Patterson, Tracy Hawk, Tia Shaw (Vecas), Eric Seigel, Omar Hawk, Obafemii Hawk, MonaLisa Hawk, Prince Johnson, Anastia Johnson, Joy Johnson St. Claire (Patrick), Susan Johnson, Shavonte Crowden (Kris), Deanna Hawk, Grace Johnson, Talaya Hawk, Daniel Hawk Jr., Thedan Hawk, Jian Hawk, Gregory Johnson Jr., Reggie Cooper Jr. (Sherrell), Kela, Maurice, and Duane Hawk.
