Frank A. Russo

February 11, 1953 - May 17, 2025

Frank A. Russo, 72, of Hamilton, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, May 17, 2025.

Born in Trenton, NJ, Frank was a lifelong resident of the Hamilton area. He graduated from Steinert High School and went on to study at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he honed the talents that would become central to both his career and identity.

In 1979, Frank opened The Music Box on Route 33 in Hamilton, a place that became much more than a music store. It was a haven, a community hub, and a reflection of his life’s passion. Music was not just his livelihood, it was his soul’s language. A gifted multi-instrumentalist, Frank could play the piano, guitar, saxophone, and just about anything he picked up.

To his customers, Frank was more than a shop owner, he was a mentor, a confidant, and often, a sounding board. Over the years, many came not only for instruments or lessons but also for encouragement, laughs, and a safe space. His sense of humor and warmth made The Music Box feel like home to many.

Above all, Frank cherished his family and treasured the time spent making memories with those he loved most. He was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a loyal friend to many. His presence, kindness, and laughter will be deeply missed.

Predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Dorothy (Pinto) Russo, he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Ronald Kinnunen; his son and daughter-in-law, Josh and Betsy DiGiovanni; his brothers, Joseph (Sue) Russo and Michael Russo; his beloved grandchildren, Ronald Kinnunen, Stacey Kinnunen, and Theo DiGiovanni; and great-granddaughter, Averiannah Kinnunen. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

A gathering for family and friends will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Buklad-Merlino Yardville Memorial Home, 30 Yardville-Allentown Road, Yardville, NJ.

A prayer service will begin at 12:00 p.m.

Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.

I traded my cherry red Gibson ES335 guitar and my Fender twin reverb amp for a classical guitar in 1986 with Frank. I was 18. I was moving to the Caribbean. Frank was so kind. I got back here in 2009. Got back in touch with him. I loved that man. ❤️ Oh, I started lessons at the Box in '79 at 8 yrs old. Tim Ketterer. He frightened me so i did what he said. My sincere condolences to his Family and his friends. ❤️ 😢 I can still hear his voice and laughter.

I worked two days a week for Frank at his last store. I brought my dog Silvi with me. That dog LOVED Frank and wouldn't live unless Frank walked her to my van. Frank was the best!
