Ferdinand C. “Fry” Mather Sr., 91, of Hamilton Township, passed away peacefully at home on October 12, 2025.
Affectionately known to family, friends, and colleagues as “Fry,” Ferdinand had a zest for life that touched everyone he met. He was a proud honorably discharged Navy Veteran. He loved spending time at the family beach house on Long Beach Island, sharing cherished moments with loved ones. An avid golfer, he enjoyed playing at the Burlington County Country Club and Old York Country Club, earning numerous hole-in-ones and a past senior club championship. Ferdinand also had a lifelong passion for Cadillacs and was an active member of the New Jersey Cadillac Allante Club and was a member of UA Plumbers and Pipefitters of Central NJ for 65 years.
He was known as the life of the party, enjoyed a fine glass of Scotch, loved bringing joy to his family and friends, and treasured every moment with his grandchildren. His warmth, humor, and spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is predeceased by his father, Ferdinand S. Mather, and mother, Mary Mae (Uporski) Mather; brothers, Roger and Chuck Mather; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Nancy (Petix) and Robert Lloyd, Josephine (Petix) Lamato, Barbara (Petix) and Andre Folco; Carmen Petix, Salvatore and Jeanette Petix, Dr. Robert Petix, and Joseph Petix Jr and Alice.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Dorothy; his son, Ferdinand Jr., and his wife, Beth; his granddaughter, Madison, and her husband, Blake Nebbia; and his grandson, Ferdinand III, and his girlfriend, Kaitlin Radcliffe. He also leaves behind his brother, Kenneth Mather, and partner, Patti; his brother-in-law, Maurice Lamato; his sister-in-law, Nelly Petix; his nephew, Jason, and his wife, Jennifer Mather; as well as the Welsh, Hicks, Benson, and Lee families; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and dear friends. He is also survived by in-laws, James and Ann Gearhart; Lynn, Mike, Michael, Olivia, and Grayson Kelly; Alexis and Matthew Harris; and Ruth and Dan Fowler.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Monday, October 20, 2025 from 9:30 a.m. – 10:15 a.m. at St. Raphael Church, 3500 South Broad Street, Hamilton, NJ. with A Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m.
Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Buklad-Merlino Memorial Homes, Hamilton.
There will be no calling hours at the funeral home.
