Eleanor Marie Kelly

November 19, 1934 - January 15, 2025


Eleanor Marie Kelly, 90, of Mercerville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at Capital Health Systems at Hopewell, surrounded by the love of her family.

 

Born in Trenton, she was a lifelong Trenton/Mercerville area resident. In 1968, Eleanor, along with her husband Robert, were one of eight founding families of Sister Georgine's Learning Center in Trenton NJ, for children with special needs.

She was employed for many years with the State of NJ, Dept. of Higher Education, but considered raising her children and grandchildren her lifelong career.   She loved babies, and helped raise her grandchildren. Eleanor took great care of her garden and was a meticulous housekeeper.  She was an avid Eagles fan who enjoyed trips to Long Beach Island (LBI). Eleanor never sat still, she was always active.  She had a sweet demeanor and never had a bad word to say about anyone, yet she had a naughty, fun side of her that her family loved.

 

Predeceased by her parents, James and Mary (Mooney) Roissier; and her beloved husband Robert M. Kelly, Sr.;  she is survived by her four sons and one daughter, Michael Kelly, James Kelly and his wife, Kathy, Mary Kelly, Robert Kelly and his wife, Cynthia, and Christopher Kelly and his wife, Jeanette; her sister, Kathy McDonald; 10 grandchildren, Jessica, Shannon, Michael Jr., Jacqueline, James, Josie, Caleb, Eva, Lucy, and Christopher Jr.; seven great-grandchildren, Lila, Ellie, Warner, Sophie, Evelyn, Joie, and Jude; as well as many nieces and nephews and other family members.

 

 Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday, January 23, 2025  from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Buklad Yardville Memorial Chapel, 30 Yardville-Allentown Rd., Yardville.

 

A prayer service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with local clergy officiating.

 

Burial will follow in Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Road,

North Hanover Twp., NJ.

Aunt "Nornie" was such a very special lady and everyone who knew her could figure that out pretty quick, She was especially special to me, largely because of her close relationship with her sister and my Mom, Joan. When my Mom and Dad had me, Nornie and Kell were still just dating, all she wanted to do was 'mother" me like i was her own, but then again there was always something cute about me. They would take me places with them and buy me presents and spoil me rotten. Now of course, I was way too young to remember any of this but I can see no reason for any of them to lie to me and so I…
