Edwin L. Ackerman, 90, of Chesterfield, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at Carnegie Post Acute Care Center, Plainsboro, NJ.
Edwin was born and raised on his family’s beloved farm in Patterson, NJ, where the values of hard work and devotion took root early in his life. A proud U.S. Army Veteran, he faithfully served his country during both the Vietnam and Korean Wars, rising to the rank of Captain and completing 20 years of honorable and dedicated service.
After retiring from the military, Edwin continued to pour his skills and steady hands into his work as an electrician, a trade he embraced for many years.
A man of deep faith, Edwin was a devoted parishioner of Christ Episcopal Church of Bordentown for more than half a century. There, he offered his time and spirit in many roles—Lay Reader, Senior Warden, and joyful member of the choir—always giving of himself with humility and love.
Predeceased by his parents, Herbert and Margaret (Cook) Ackerman; and brothers, John and Robert Ackerman; and his daughter, Margaret Morocco; he is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Katherine (Martin) Ackerman; a son, Edwin (Deborah) Ackerman; daughters, Margaret “Peggy” (Stephen III) Dey; Emily McEniry; son-in-law, Daniel Morocco; grandchildren, Larry Ackerman, Megan (Samantha) Braun, Jeffrey (Red), Ackerman, Melissa Ackerman, Kristin (Jacob) Horton, Kimberly Morocco, Rachel Dey, Stephen Dey IV, Jake McEniry and Casey Rayne McEniry; 3 great grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Christ Episcopal Church of Bordentown, 130 Prince Street, Bordentown City, NJ.
