Edward R. Owens, Jr.


July 14, 1944 - January 20, 2026


Edward Russell Owens Jr (Russ) passed away, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday January 20, 2026, at Capital Heath Regional Medical Center in Trenton NJ.

 

Born in Trenton NJ. Edward attended Trenton Central High School. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp in 1964 and achieved the rank of Sergeant. He was a member of Company H, 2nd Battalion, 26th Marine, 3rd Marine Division, and served in Vietnam. Edward earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, with 1 star, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Purple Heart Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1968.

 

After returning from the Marine Corp, he started working at Delaval as a machinist. He retired after many years of service. He was a member of the Hamilton Elks, the American Legion and the Marine Corp League. He was an avid Eagle and Dodgers fan.

 

He was predeceased by his parents, Russell and Mary Owens; brothers, Kenneth and Richard Owens; and grandson, Jeremy McTamney. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary (Reading) Owens; a son, Mark (Meg) Owens; two daughters, Lisa (Dan) May and Kristin (Chris) Harris; grandchildren, Erin (Jeff) Lederhos, Olivia Owens, Danielle May, John and Michael Harris; and his great granddaughter, Mckenzie Weil. Paulina and Colten Loncosky.

 

Services will be private and under the direction of the Buklad-Merlino Memorial Homes, Hamilton.
