Edward J. Downs

November 17, 1951 - October 24, 2026

Edward J. Downs, 74, of Hamilton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at his home, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family.

Born and raised in Trenton, NJ, Ed was a lifelong area resident.

Ed had a great love for the outdoors and enjoyed spending his free time boating, hunting, and pursuing his passion for cars and motorcycles. An avid hunting enthusiast, he was a proud member of the Lannutti Rod and Gun Club, where he enjoyed sharing his interests and camaraderie with fellow members.

Above all else, Ed treasured the time he spent with his family and friends. Whether enjoying a favorite pastime or simply being together, it was those special moments and the memories they created that meant the most to him. He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Predeceased by his parents, Edward W. and Joyce (Purdy) Downs; sister, Brenda Lewis; and his son, Edward J. Downs, Jr.; he is survived by his children, Denise Gillard, Alison (Ken) Wisniewski, and Jonathan Downs; a brother, William (Millie) Downs; a sister, Nancy (John) Burton; two grandsons, Michael Gillard and Samuel Wisniewski; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Cremation services are under the direction of the Buklad-Merlino Memorial Homes, Hamilton.
