Chester M. “Chet” Ogonowski, Jr, 76, of Springfield Township, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at Serenity Hospice Inpatient Unit at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospice, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born in Trenton, NJ he was a longtime area resident, moving to Springfield Township in 2012. Chet was employed with NJ Dept. of Corrections as a Chief Engineer, retiring after many years of service. He was a proud honorably discharged Air Force Veteran, who served time in Vietnam and Da Nang. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of The Dodge Boy’s Car Club.
Predeceased by his parents, Chester M. Ogonowski, Sr. and Clara (Meheski) Ogonowski; and his beloved wife, Ruth M. Ogonowski; he is survived by his son, Michael Ogonowski and wife, Christine; and her son, Jayden Agron; his sister, Char Rickette; nephew, Don Rickette, Jr.; great nephew and great niece, Rider and Kara Rickette and their mother, Christine Rickette; as well as many other family members and dear friends.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026 at 1:00 p.m.at St. Stanislaus Cemetery.

What a wonderful, peaceful man you were! A man's man so to say. Hunter, fisherman, and car dude! Never wanting confrontation but could hold your own on your values and decisions.
