Carmine DeSantis, beloved husband, father, father-in-law, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2025, in Brooklyn, NY.

Carmine was married for 63 years to his beloved wife, Serafina (Sadie). Their love story began when Carmine saw Sadie one afternoon at a small luncheonette called Dave’s Corner in Little Italy. Captivated by her, he approached Sadie while she was out with friends enjoying hot chocolate, sparking a romance that would last a lifetime. Our only peace today is that they are back together.

Carmine was deeply proud of his service in the U.S. Army. He was promoted to Corporal after saving another soldier’s life by throwing his live grenade over a wall when he became frozen in fear. He would have also been promoted to Sargeant if he stayed longer but he needed to return to the successful family meat market he started in Little Italy.

After running DeSantis Prime Meats for over thirty years, Carmine successfully transitioned into a career in commercial real estate where he helped many other people realize their dreams of starting their own businesses. He was happy to go the extra mile to help people. Carmine was also amazing with his hands. He built an entire deck by himself. He was a master of all trades and a wonder to behold.

Carmine was a devoted father to Dominick and Steven He always went above and beyond to make sure they had everything they wanted. After Steven expressed interest in learning the piano, Carmine bought a neighbor’s piano and pushed it down the block.

Carmine and Sadie were often found in the kitchen, preparing food together. He always ground his own meat to make sure his family had the best quality food.

Carmine also held a special place in his heart for his daughter-in-law, Jenny. He was deeply grateful for the way she supported Steven and took great pride in seeing her thrive both personally and professionally, from earning her graduate degree to starting her own therapy practice.

Carmine will be sorely missed by all who knew him, including his friends, family, and extended community. His legacy of love, hard work, and dedication will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Funeral services will be private, under the direction of the Buklad Merlino Memorial Home, 2141 South Broad Street in Hamilton, New Jersey. Carmine was buried with honors, next to his beloved wife, Serafina (Sadie) at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA.
