February 27, 1931 — May 1, 2026

Carmela Aiello, 95, of Columbus, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2026, peacefully at home with her beloved daughter at her side.

Born and raised in Lilly, Pennsylvania, she later made her way to the Trenton area as a young woman, settling in the Villa Park neighborhood where she built a life filled with love and lasting connections. She was employed by the State of New Jersey, dedicating more than 25 years of service before her well-earned retirement.

Carmela was a gentle and kind soul whose warmth and sincerity left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Joachim’s Catholic Church for many years, where her faith brought her great comfort and peace.

In her free time, Carmela enjoyed staying active, whether it was exercising, taking walks with her beloved daughter, or enjoying a game of Bingo. Above all else, she treasured the time spent with her daughter, Cheryl. Together, they created countless cherished memories, spending their winters in Florida and their summers in Brigantine—moments that brought her immense joy and happiness.

Predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Filomena (Vincenzo) Tancredi; her siblings, Alfred Tancredi, William Tancredi, Robert Tancredi and Nicolina Tancredi; and her beloved husband, Frank Aiello; she is survived by her daughters,  Karen Aiello and Cheryl Crist; a sister, Ann Baradore; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
