March 30, 1947 - September 28, 2026

Booker T. Jones Jr., age 79, peacefully transitioned at Serenity Hospice in Hamilton, NJ.  A proud native New Jerseyan, Booker lived a remarkable life defined by perseverance, achievement, faith, and a generous spirit. He was a devoted family man, a man of ambitions and purpose, and a giver who shared his time, energy, and resources with those around him.

Booker attended South Plainfield High School and following graduation, enlisted in the United States Army. During his three years of military service, he spent 19 months in Vietnam.  Upon returning home, he married Trudy and began raising his family.  He embarked on an educational journey that would lay the foundation for an accomplished engineering career.  He earned an Associate of Arts degree in Engineering Science from Middlesex County College before continuing his studies at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, New York, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.

A gifted and determined athlete, Booker distinguished himself in track and field, setting eleven records at Middlesex County College between 1971 and 1973 and five additional records at RPI between 1973 and 1975.  At age 28, he earned recognition as an International Track Champion and was named the Most Outstanding College Athlete of America in 1975.  These achievements reflected his competitive drive, discipline, and commitment to excellence.

Booker carried that same determination into his professional life.  He began his corporate career as a Consulting Contract Engineer, working on railroad bridge and track rehabilitation, designing steel towers, equipment supports, and engineering concrete and piled footings.  He also served as a civil and structural inspector during the construction of a supertanker terminal in the Caribbean.  In 1981, he joined Hess Oil as a Project Manager overseeing a soil and concrete testing laboratory in St. Lucia.  Never one to shy away from a challenge, Booker established his own company, BTJ Enterprises, Inc., in 1982, specializing in railroad rehabilitation and general construction.  Through his work, he built a career grounded in technical expertise, independence, and entrepreneurial vision.

In 2010, Booker remarried Dagmar and embraced a new chapter of life.  Retirement did not mean the end of his pursuit of knowledge.  Instead, he fashioned a new path as a self-proclaimed Content Biblical Historian (CBH), specializing in the Mosaic Law.  His continued study reflected a deepening commitment to his faith and a desire to explore and understand the scriptures.

Beyond his many accomplishments, Booker will be remembered for the qualities that made him uniquely himself.  He was a giver, freely offering his time, energy, and resources to others.  He was a family man, a driven achiever, and a God-fearing soul.  He also had a passion for photography and took pride in preserving the family tree, serving as a keeper of family memories and connections.  Through his photographs and the stories they held, he helped preserve a legacy that future generations can continue to cherish.

Booker’s life was a testament to the power of determination, the importance of faith, and the enduring value of family.  His journey took him from New Jersey to military service abroad, from the track and field to the engineering profession, from entrepreneurship to a deeper exploration of his faith, through every chapter he continued to grow, achieve, and give.

Carrying on his loving memory are his beloved wife, Dagmar Jones; his children Danyel, Selena and Micah; their mother Trudy; his three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; his siblings Alexander, John, Larry, and Eloise “Marie”; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Though Booker has peacefully departed this life, his legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the lives he touched, the knowledge he pursued, the accomplishments he achieved and the generosity he shared.

His photographs will continue to tell stories, his example will continue to inspire and the love he gave will remain woven into the fabric of his family for generations to come.

May he rest in eternal peace, embraced by the God he faithfully served and forever remembered by the people who loved him.

Booker was buried with honors at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA.
