Beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather, Benito Cosimo Parrotta of Trenton, NJ, has sadly passed away peacefully at the age of 89, on January 3, 2026. Benito was surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren at Capital Health Systems, Hopewell, NJ.
Born in Terranova di Sibbari, in the region of Calabria, Italy, Benito emigrated to the United States at the age of 13 and proudly made Trenton his lifelong home. From a young age, he understood the value of hard work and dedication, beginning his career with Local 172 at just 19 years old. He went on to work in the construction industry for more than 36 years, earning the respect of his peers and taking great pride in the life he built through his labor, before enjoying a well‑deserved retirement.
Benito had a deep passion for all things mechanical and automotive. He especially loved drag racing, fixing, restoring, and collecting cars, and was an avid fan of NASCAR. Anything involving cars or electronics captured his interest and attention. He also enjoyed watching wrestling and boxing, spending time at flea markets and junk sales in search of hidden treasures and relaxing at home watching television. These simple pleasures brought him great enjoyment and reflected his curious, hands‑on nature.
Predeceased by his parents, Michele and Antoinette Egidi Parrotta; and his siblings; Joseph, Umberto, Frank, Luciano, Danny, Antonio, Dora, Iole, Assunta, Lucy and Maria. Benito is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Florence (Such) Parrotta; 8 children and their spouses, Lucia (Anthony) Fuccello, Linda Parotta, Benita Parrotta, Michael (Czarina) Parrotta, Mary Parrotta, Michelle (Gennaro) Esposito, Benito (Amy) Parrotta, and Mark (Summerly) Parrotta; 12 grandchildren, Donald, Antoniette, Dominique, Christina, Vanessa, Michele, Salvatore, Alexandria, Jacob, Lacy, Samantha and Luciano; 4 great grandchildren, Adam, Presley, Sophia and Lalis Lewis; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
A Mausoleum Entombment ceremony will be held Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, 1800 Hamilton Avenue, Hamilton, NJ 08619.
Services are under the care and direction of the Buklad-Merlino Memorial Homes, Hamilton.
