September 24, 1959 - February 12, 2025

Barbara Ann Shin, 65, of Hamilton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Capital Health Systems at Fuld in Trenton, NJ.
Born in Trenton, and raised in Hamilton Square, Barbara spent her life in the Hamilton area where she built a home filled with love and warmth. A graduate of Steinert High School, she dedicated 33 years of service to the State of New Jersey’s Public Defender’s Office, where her kindness and dedication touched many lives.
Barbara was a selfless and compassionate soul, always putting the needs of her family and friends before her own. Her generous spirit continued even after her passing, as her family honored her legacy by choosing organ donation through the Gift of Life Program, allowing her light to shine on in the lives of others.
She cherished every moment spent with her beloved grandchildren and found joy in simple pleasures, collecting sea glass along the shore with her dear friend Joyce Ann, singing with a voice as beautiful as her heart, and relaxing by the pool on warm summer days.
Barbara was predeceased by her father, Frank Shin; her mother, Joyce Carroll; her stepfather, Fritz Carroll; her nephew, Lawrence Campbell; her partner, David Rapciewicz; her dogs, Muffy and Moon; her cats, Sid and Ma Cat.
She leaves behind a loving family who will forever hold her in their hearts: her daughters, Carrie (Jason) Malkin, Brittney Shin, and Shannon (James) Malkin; her sister, Donna (Larry) Campbell; her treasured grandchildren, Jayden, Jayce, Brenden, and Landen Malkin, and A.J. and Cason Shin; her sister-in-law, Janel (Kyle) Kinter; her godson, Brandon Kinter; her niece, Lauren (Keith); great-nephew, Logan; and her best friends, Joyce Ann Tibbit, Linda Lawson Curtin, Alice O’Brien, and Charlotte Nixon. Barbara’s love extended far beyond her immediate family, and she will be deeply missed by many other cherished relatives and dear friends.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Buklad-Merlino Memorial Home, 2141 South Broad Street, Hamilton.
Words of Remembrance will be shared at 12:00 p.m.
Burial will follow in Colonial Memorial Park, Hamilton.

Barbara I will and have been writing in OUR own personal notebook. No one but our children could come close to understanding you and I and the things we say and do. Besides their private. They only belong to you and I. As you know, I am in shock. We promised we were going to go together. And just that, sorta we did. I am just a hollow being sitting on the side of my bed, rocking, singing our songs and pulling my hair.
But like our favorite poem about our entwined hearts. That is the way it has to be for now. You carry my heart wherever you may go, my heart goes with you. Wherever I go, …
Oh my God! This is unbelievable! Barbara was one of the most kind, caring selfless woman I’ve known. She was a wonderful woman and she will
Truly be missed. My heart breaks for her family, sending my deepest condolences. So very sorry for this unimaginable loss. Jim and I are here if you need anything.
