Barbara A. Kurst

December 13, 1950 - January 5, 2025

Barbara A. Kurst, 74 of Hamilton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 5, 2024 at Serenity Hospice Inpatient Unit at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Hamilton.

Barbara was the proud owner and operator of Barbara’s Hair Gallery in Hamilton Township, NJ. Her salon was a sanctuary for those seeking not just a new hairstyle but an experience that left them feeling beautiful inside and out.  The love she poured into her craft transformed the lives of countless clients, who over the years, became more like friends and bonus family members.

An avid sports enthusiast, Barbara was a diehard Eagles fan, proudly donning her green and cheering passionately for her team.  When she wasn’t in front of the TV watching a game, she found joy and excitement in all types of sports.

Travel was another great passion, especially her trips to the Caribbean, where the sun and sea brought her peace and joy.  The Bahamas, Cancun and Jamaica were among some of her favorite places.  Above all, family was a central pillar of Barbara’s life. She cherished each moment spent with her loved ones, creating lasting memories that spoke to her generous heart.  As a devoted aunt, she was a guiding force in the lives of her nieces and nephews, always there with encouragement, laughter and unwavering support.

Predeceased by her parents, Olga (Kakas) and William F. Gerding; her beloved husband, Richard H. Kurst; her late in-laws, Barnie and Ann Kurst; and her 7 loving Doberman pinschers, who she loved like they were her babies; she is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Pat Gerding; her sisters and brother-in-law, Chris and Russ Schreiner,  and Deborah Malone; her brother-in-law, Jim Kurst; many nieces and nephews, as well as many other family members and dear friends.

Dearest Barb ~ way back in 1974 when I went to work at Cresent Wire Co. on Olden Ave and met Dickie, and then you. Its been that long. Many, many fun times we did have, my house, your house, on the scooters just riding around in the sunshine having a great time. One of my favorite things about you was your laugh, that full body, no holes bard laugh, you could hear that laugh from the other room.....it's funny thinking about it now. Thanks for the hair cuts, thanks for the tips on my plants, thanks for the Love and Friendship with Cheryl, me, you and Dickie. A very big part of our lives. Rest in Peace and tell…
