Augustine "Gus" Perilli

March 15, 1924 - April 13, 2019

Augustine “Gus” Perilli, 95, of Hamilton, a devout Catholic, entered into God’s care Saturday, April 13, 2019 at home in Hamilton, with his loving family by his side. Born in Trenton, he resided in Los Angeles, California prior to moving back to the Trenton area, where he resided most of his life. Gus, as he was affectionately known by his family and friends proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during World War II in the Southwest and Central Pacific theater. He became a successful printer and machinist and worked at The Trentonian, Kirkham and Guthrie, Commercial Printing and General Motors. Gus was a Boy Scout leader for many years for Troop 9 at Saint Anthony’s Church and started a local Explorers group. He was a trustee of the Italian American Sportsmen Club, a member of the American Red Cross, where he helped with the disaster unit and taught swimming lessons, a member of Catholics United for the Faith, a lieutenant in the Civil Air Patrol, a trustee for the Mercer County Italian American Festival, a volunteer at the Friends of the Hamilton Public Library, and a worker with the election board. He was a member of the American Legion, the Knights of Columbus and the Hamilton Township Senior Center, where he played bocci and was in the process of organizing a chess club. He was an avid tennis player, chess player and a talented craftsman. Gus was always building creative projects, including chess sets, and offering a helping hand to everyone.


Predeceased by his parents, Armando and Agnes (Vannozzi) Perilli, his wife of 63 years, Louise Testa Perilli, two brothers and sister-in-law William Perilli and Maurice and Josephine Perilli, and brothers-in-law Daniel Nalli and Fritz Hertel. Gus, a loving devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and special friend to everyone, is survived by his sisters, Louise Nalli and Mamie Hertel; children and their spouses, Maryanne Perilli, William and Linda Perilli, Aggie Perilli and Michael Evans, and Diane and Gregory Badessa; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Sister Maria Philomena, Michael and Dayna Badessa, Gregory Badessa, Patricia Badessa, William and Kristin Perilli, Christine and Jeff Iorio, Michael and Laura Perilli and Joseph Perilli, and 14 great-grandchildren.


The funeral will be held 8:30 am Wednesday, April 17, 2019 from Buklad Yardville Memorial Chapel, 30 Yardville Allentown Road, Yardville, New Jersey 08620.


Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 9:30 am Wednesday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 626 South Olden Avenue, Hamilton, NJ 08629.


Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, 1200 Cedar Lane, Hamilton, NJ 08610.


Calling hours will be Tuesday, April 16, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the memorial chapel.
