Anthony William Britschge, Jr., 95, of Hamilton, passed away on February 24, 2024 at Serenity Hospice Inpatient Unit at RWJ Barnabas Health, Hamilton.
Born in Trenton, Bill, as he was affectionately known by his family, was a lifelong Trenton/Hamilton area resident. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army having served his country during the Korean War. Bill retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1990 after 32 years as a dedicated employee. He previously worked for Swern’s, Lit Brothers and Yards Department Stores and had also been employed by Hibberts Publishing.
Bill was a longtime parishioner of Holy Angels Church and most recently St. Raphael-Holy Angels Church. He was a die-hard University of Notre Dame football fan and an avid Phillies fan.
Son of the late Anthony and Florence Keitz Britschge, brother of the late Florence Stanton and Eileen B. Smith, he was the devoted husband of the late Lillian Hampton Britschge who predeceased him in 1999. He was also predeceased by his brothers-in-law, Lawrence Stanton, William Smith and Harry Hampton.
He is survived by his devoted daughter and caregiver, Donna Britschge and four sons, Steven Britschge, Robert Britschge and his wife Kimberly, Thomas Britschge and his wife Debbie, and Kenneth Britschge and his wife Annie. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Christopher Britschge and his fiancée Melissa Stickle, Justin Britschge, Christine McDaid and her husband Shem Stewart, and Michael Britschge; his great-grandchildren, Kaia, Ava, Everly and Rowan; his sister-in-law Ruth Hampton and several nieces and nephews.
A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024, from 6:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. at the Memorial Home.
Funeral services will begin Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. at the Buklad-Merlino Memorial Home, 2141 South Broad St., Hamilton
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at St. Raphael-Holy Angels Church, 3500 South Broad Street, Hamilton, NJ.
Entombment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, 1200 Cedar Lane, Hamilton.
