Adele Pozzi

January 8, 1940 - August 30, 2020

Adele Pozzi, 80, of Trenton, entered God’s loving care, Sunday, August 30, 2020 at her residence, with her loving family by her side.

Born and raised in Cosenza, Italy, Adele emigrated to the United States in July of 1969 settling in the Chambersburg section of Trenton, where she resided since then.

Lina, as she was affectionately called by her family, was a skilled dressmaker, who created beautiful designs for her family members, and for her clients in Italy. In later years, she would alter clothes – often, at a late request by a niece or nephew – who knew her work would be perfect. And, they in turn, would look perfect. No matter the request, all they had to do was ask. Holidays were particularly special to her, when she would bake breads and cookies to be shared with her friends and loved ones. No Easter was complete without her egg bread, and at Christmas, all looked forward to her traditional Calabrese cookies. She was happiest celebrating her loved ones’ milestones -- birthdays, graduations, weddings – she was ever present, and her generosity was boundless.

Adele was formerly employed with Circle F Industries in Trenton and later with M.A.I. in Hamilton, prior to her retirement. Many of her former colleagues became lifelong friends.

Predeceased by her parents, Michele and Maria (Maruca) Speranza, her siblings and their spouses, Virginia Lifrieri and husband Giovanni, Anna Amodeo and husband Antonino, Antonio Speranza and wife Aida, Pasquale Speranza and wife Maria, Carmela Caloiero and husband Francesco, her brother-in-law, Rosalbino Pugliese, and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Julius and Fannie (Povia) Pozzi, she is survived by her loving devoted husband of nearly forty-nine years, Richard Pozzi; her daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Justin O’Connell; one sister, Francesca Pugliese; also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives here and in Italy.

Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday, September 3, 2020 from 8 a.m.-10 a.m. at Buklad Merlino Funeral Home, 2141 S. Broad Street, Hamilton, NJ 08610, followed by the funeral at 10 a.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 3, 2020 at Our Lady of the Angels Parish-St. Joachim’s Church, 22-56 Butler Street, Trenton, NJ 08611.

Entombment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery Mausoleum, 1200 Cedar Lane, Hamilton, NJ 08610.
